Work in Vicente Guerrero, Dgo.

Location

We live in the town of Vicente Guerrero, located in the southeastern part of the state of Durango, Mexico. We are approximately 565 miles from the US Border. The town boasts itself of 14,500 inhabitants. Our county is made up of rolling hills and flat plateaus that are good for agriculture. Their main crops are beans, corn, and chilies. The state also has pecan, apple, guayaba and peach orchards. In all directions, the mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental are visible.

Religion

There are many different denominations working in our town. The population consists of mainly Roman Catholics, "Jehovah's Witnesses", Mormons and charismatics of all types. We praise the Lord that there is now an Independent Baptist Church here!

Our Work

The work in the town of Vicente Guerrero, Durango was started in June 2000. The work is still going strong after 6 years. La Iglesia Bautista Independiente el Calvario (Calvary Baptist Church) was organized on 18 May 2003. The church is currently praying to buy property where they can build their own building and facilities.

Our Teachers

Brother Rodney Lane is our adult Sunday School teacher.

Alejandro Núñez Díaz serves as our assistant adult Sunday School teacher.

Luís Valles Torres is serving as our secondary department Sunday School teacher.

Sisters Amanda Lane and Claudia Rueda Serrano serve as our primary department Sunday School teachers.

We have Sunday School for all ages; classes for pre-school, primary and teens. We even have adult classes also. Our Sunday School program is an invaluable part of our church's ministry. We have some of the best men and women in the state of Durango who form our teachers faculty.

Our Bible Institute

In April 2004, we started Calvary Baptist Bible Institute (IBBC) out of the newly organized church in order to train men and women for Christian service. We have seen some excellent progress out of this endeavor.  This Institute has started several satellite schools, two of which are located in the mountains among the Tepehuanes Indians. In January 2006, the Institute began offering courses through correspondence. We have several students currently studying in this manner.

1st Graduation Exercises - July 2007

Brothers Luís Valles Torres and Alejandro Núñez Díaz both finished their studies in the Bible Institute. They were both awarded their Associate of Biblical Theology Degree. It has been a long three years for them. They both are currently working in their home church as teachers and are busily ministering to others.

Monthly Ladies Meeting

In September of 2005, my wife Amanda started a monthly ladies meeting in our church with the help of our field director's wife, Sister Sherry Kindhart. The ladies are challenged to live a godly life at home, as well as, in their community. They are taught to be the virtuous women that bring glory to the Lord through their daily lives.

Printing Ministry

In January 2006, we started a new phase of our church's ministry. We had prayed for 7 years that the Lord would send us a machine to print tracts and gospel literature. Our prayers were answered this January with the arrival of a used digital duplicator. This machine has already been put through it's paces as the church has been printing tracts to distribute in our town, in the mountains among the Indians, as well as, shipping tracts to other churches in other states. We trust the Lord will continue to make use of this important piece of equipment.

Our Ministers

In August of 2005, the Lord blessed the church by calling Alejandro (Alexander) to preach. He and his wife Claudia are faithful members of the church. His wife is a Sunday School teacher in the primary department. Alejandro is enrolled in our Bible Institute.

HELP!

No. I do not have a twin! I have not figured out a way to clone myself, although the idea sometimes seems like a good one. As you can see by the photos on this page, we are busily working to reproduce ourselves in the lives of the people that we are training for the work of the ministry. Our hope and desire is that they will take charge of the work, and in turn, will begin to train others who will continue to start even more churches. We need help! There are so many towns and villages that have never heard the life-changing Word of God that we simply cannot reach them all. We are working to reach as many as we can, but the need is so great. We need men and women who are willing to sell out and forsake all and come and work alongside us to reach others in Mexico.

Will you come and help us?

"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38
